As with every weekend in season so far, the club have had some wins and some losses over the weekend.
Friday night saw the 1st team defeat Heywood at the Crimble in a 20-20 game. Mo Saoib and returning professional Mangaliso Moshele were main scorers for Unsworth with 49 & 44 not out respectively out of total of 153-5 in 20 overs. In reply Heywood were always behind the rate, and posted 116 all out. Ian Hall was pick of bowlers with 3-22
Saturday saw the first team washed out at home without a ball being bowled against bottom of league Worsley. The 2nd team meanwhile got a reduced game on against Ashton Ladysmith 1st team. The twos posted 140 all out on a small ground, despite being 138-6! Tom Earnshaw 35 was top scorer. In reply the result was never in doubt with Ashton’s opener scoring 74* before the rain came and Ashton won on Duckworth Lewis rule, at 108 for 1
Sunday was the 3rd team cup with Greenmount the visitors, and Jack O’Brien the match ball sponsor! Greenmount’s 182 in 40 over game proved far too much, despite Ryan Edge’s attempts with the ball, he was leading bowler with 3 for 25. Unsworth only posted 85 in reply, with mark Crowther only bat to pass 11! He scored 26. That’s the 3s out of the cup.
This Friday sees the Under 19s at home to Bury in a 20-20 competitioon, with 615 start, and BBQ going. Saturday 17th, the 2nds are at home to Greenfield and the evening sees Kick, Steve Bailey's band make their music comeback.
