Last weekend saw both the 1st and 2nd team lose, with the 3rd team managing just 2 overs on Sunday! The first team played against Greenmount who are in the running for the title. Unsworth managed a paltry 93 all out, which was never enough on a small ground and good wicket. Professional Harvey Hossein top scoring with 27. In reply the home team knocked the runs off in just 19 overs, congratulations to Mason Garnett on his 1st ever wicket in 1st team!

At the Den the 2nd team posted a creditable 174 in their 45 overs. Austin Jones was main stay of batting with a well-made 73 off 79 balls, well done Austin. Liam Brady 31 & Jack Ryder 24 gave good support. Flowery Field’s openers put on 95 in 23 overs which provided the backbone of their innings, and ensured they always looked favourites. Despite Chris Sherington taking 3-37 the opposition got home with just under 3 overs to spare in a well fought game. Thanks very much to the Madsen family for the ball sponsor. Wayne was professional at the club from 2007-9 before joining Derbyshire as captain enjoying a successful county career. His wife Kyla recently also gave birth! Thanks also go to Darren Love for sponsoring the ball on Sunday for the 3rd team. DJ, as he was known, was club’s overseas amateur in 2008 & 2009 seasons. Both played when the first team won the 20-20 cup at Monton & Weate in 2008. Unfortunately the game was cut short by the British weather!

This weekend sees the last 1st team game of season at home to Flowery Field on Saturday, 1230 start. Sunday sees a charity game at the Den with a few ex Unsworth players expected. Please come and support both games
