Our last game out was a superb team performance against todays opposition who before this game still had high hopes of championship medals . The team was to be very similar to our last team sheet but sickness to Rowie , Morgan being Morgan , and Josh sick just before KO meant a little bit of fine tuning with Dan in at right back , Jack coming in in front of the back four and Joe moving out wide left and Devan up front .
Not surprisingly after training and Xmas the lads looked a little bit lethargic as did the opposition and in the early stages the game was fairly even .
It was the opposition who once again took the lead and rather luckily in the end the ball ended up in the back of the net . The lads have proved time and again that this no longer fazes them and during a short break to re adjust the net I asked the lads to man mark their goal threat as on a number of occasions Joel and Rob were getting sucked in to the ball and losing our defensive shape . I also asked Quinny to get forward more and to make overlapping runs .

Quinny started with this immediately having a good effort on goal and shortly afterwards from his corner Joel got in front of their man to hit the ball goalwards which got us back on level terms .
This was followed up by Quinn again getting down the left and putting the ball on a plate for Samir who like Martials recent goal passed the ball into the net and right hand side of the keeper to leave him with no chance and to take a 2-1 lead at half time .
From here there was only one team in it for me with our quality in the final third a real asset from a number of our quality players and unlike most teams we do not only rely on a great centre forward to win games .
Our third goal was excellent with O putting a lovely ball into Devan who finished beautifully to put the game beyond Wythenshawe to make it 3-1 . I must say Devan was much more the target man today bringing in players around him into the game far more often to suit our style of play .
Finally another good move found Lewis on the right hand side of their box and he had all the time in the world to pick out the top left corner for a shot and his execution was super to make it a convincing 4-1 and move us up to third in the table above Wythenshawe with plenty of games in hand on Whitworth Park , next weekends opposition .
Man of the match for me was Quinny , his best game for the Reds closely followed by Dan who never ceases to amaze me looking as though he had played all season and not just a handful of games . In addition thanks to Luke once again for agreeing to keep in our big games as he is better than than most of our opposition keepers , and Samir looks a fine acquisition fitting in nicely with O in the centre and keeping the game simple at all times with the easy pass .
Most of all though it was another fine team performance so well done lads and lets make the extra effort training this week for next weeks important game at our old foes Whitworth Park .
