The reward for winning last weeks match against Egerton Tatton was that the starting line up remained the same which was unfortunate particularly for Rowie and Dan who started on the bench with Charley and Ben .
The game was nip and tuck right from the start with The Reds looking bright going forwards but at times erratic with the ball at the back and in central defensive midfield and being the architects of our own downfall potentially .
Thankfully Unsworth scored the first goal when Jack slipped Morgan in with a fine pass and Morgan ran on to this and finished with aplomb .
Not for the first time we gave away a goal which really shouldn't happen when Luke S lost the ball from a loose pass from Joe and a fine strike made it 1-1 with Mark beaten in the top right corner .
At half time we asked for defenders to defend as their number one job , for the defensive unit to work as a team and to talk to each other and ask each other to do what is expected of them in their positions and that if we did this we would win as we felt our attacking threat was superior to Uppermills .
Dan moved to right back , Joe to left back and Oisin alongside Jack now in central defensive midfield to add more bite and tenacity and discipline .
Dan immediately kept us level when he cleared really well off our line but from here the game was mostly one way in favour of Unsworth .
Soon after Marcus found Morgan who saw Lewis moving forward and the latter finished nicely to make it 2-1 .
Marcus then headed straight at the keeper when anywhere else it would have been a goal , Morgan had an effort saved and Oisin had a lovely attempt at steering the ball in to the top right corner after being put in by Rob .
After a good move with Rowie , Lewis and Morgs linking well the momentum we were creating was building up as we put Uppermill under the cosh and when Lewis picked out Marcus, a lovely inside pass found Morgan who was having his best game for some time and he scored his second to make it 3-1 .
Once again however we are devils at making it difficult for ourselves and an own goal from a corner made it 3-2 .
From this point on there was only one team in it and another exquisite pass from Oisin found Marcus rampaging through in his best game for a few weeks for a fine strike which hit the far post .This same pair then saw another shot going wide off Marcus but our money was on him putting one in as he was lively throughout .
Our fourth much deserved goal was magic to say the least Oisin duping two or three to find Rowie out on the left , Rowie superbly nutmegging the defender and putting in a forwards dream ball for Morgan to run onto in the opposition six yard box to make it 4-2 . This we must do more often is the challenge .
To wrap the game up Marcus got his reward for a performance of sheer hard work to match his skills with Morgan putting him on the ball and with much to do Marcus fought his way to retain the ball and this fight gave him the opportunity and space to find the net and make it 5-2 .
The lads are getting a good run going and next week we look forward to meeting Middleton Boys at home who we owe one to after battering them away but only drawing 2-2 .

After last weeks fine 2-1 win over Curzon Ashton in which Rowie put us ahead in the first half , followed by an equaliser from the opposition which was cancelled out by a superlative strike by Morgan which began with a nutmeg followed by a wonder strike in the top corner the lads were looking to get some momentum and a winning run going . Starting without Rowie , Dan and Ben a win would take us into the last 8 once again of the prestigious Manchester FA County Cup .

The lads started really well and for the most part Mark in nets was a spectator which was great after asking the lads to keep a clean sheet . In the early stages forward Morgs found Lewis who shot wide , Marcus had a header saved , and Oisin put in Morgs for a good attempt on goal . The goal came from nothing more simple than a long throw from Luke , Marcus pressing the opposition but a lovely swivel saw Oisin meet the ball perfectly to make it 1-0 a skill making it look so simple. However despite this we let in our customary goal through poor marking .

The lads just continued where they left off and another throw saw Marcus picking out Oisin once again to make it 2-1 . The latter then turned provider bringing the ball down superbly to find a lively Morgan to make it 3-1 at half time and there really looked to be only one winner possible . This was underlined very early in the second half when Oisin provided his second assist and undoubtedly another man of the match award when he beat his man for Lewis to score . Lewis then got better as his confidence improved shooting for goal and it was great to see Marcus following up to make it 5-1 .

A short corner to Josh from Lewis saw a back heel from the former and Lewis scored a corker from right to left from the edge of the box to wrap up a convincing win .Oisin almost got a hat trick in the dying moments caressing a beautiful free kick from a tight angle onto the bar .

Now we look to progress to the semis which would be a super achievement in this quality competition .

The game started well for the Reds with a Marcus effort on goal and a left foot shot from Jack . Uppermill then got their first shot on target which was well saved by Mark .
Our first goal started from the back with Ben finding Danny who brought Marcus , Jack and Luke in to the game for Lewis to cut the ball inside for Oisin to make it one nil for what was a super team goal from back to front , a coaches dream .
Marcus them broke away and found Lewis whose shot was well saved and just as we looked to be on top and take the game away from the opposition a free kick cross on the edge of our box floated over Marks head to make the score 1-1 with a total fluke .
Rather than digging in to regain superiority we allowed the opposition to score when clearly offside as only one timid shout was not enough for a whistle happy referee to give us the right decision . The lads must learn from this , a perfect example of this being shown by the same lads in the second half for a decision in our favour .
Even after this Lewis hit the post but at half time it was 2-1 but with the lads looking tired , quiet and lethargic it did not bode well . No one was prepared to take the bull by the horns and lead by example .
Sure enough we let in another goal with no tackle in sight and no one prepared to put a foot in and take responsibility .
Once again we got back in it with Lewis finding Rowie who put in a lovely ball for Marcus to get his first .
Poor defending let in their no 7 to make it 4-2 and shortly after Marcus got his second from the penalty spot .
Almost to script they went two ahead again from outside the box .
Even then despite playing badly as a team collectively Marcus and Rowie had easy chances and Lewis had a shot saved from a good ball off Ben .
Rowie finished the scoring with a beauty to finished defeated and deflated at 5-4 .
A game where desire was the key with no one playing to their potential and too many if onlys .
Joel it has to be said was missed more than anyone for his drive and physicality . Most were still in bed with Mason and Morgan .
The good thing about football is that you always have the week after to put things right . Over to you lads to take responsibility for your own performance next week and look fired up and ready to go .

The lads lifted their game from last week and once gain started really well with numerous chances throughout the first half which unfortunately were not taken . Of the chances where we should have scored at least four and that is no exaggeration Marcus had four efforts thwarted , Dev had a great shot , Lewis' effort was well saved by their best player who was between the posts and Rowie also went wide .
Whilst this continues we also look lightweight at the back without the imposing Joel and sure enough could have been behind but for a last gasp save from Devan doing what a good full back should do .
At half time once again we were confident that we would go on to win the game if we took just a handful of our chances and undoubted superiority . Joel described it as something akin to Man Utd V Burnley when the hosts spurned over 30 chances .
The second half started as per the first with Rowie jinking and shooting , Ben missing at the back post and Rowie having two great efforts stopped by the keeper before Morgan found Marcus to make it 1-0 .
Our performances of late and our weaknesses were once again highlighted when we did not attack the ball and close down in midfield , the dirty part of the game which we must get better at which allowed their midfielder to get a shot off and score over Luke deputising for Mark .
Also shortly after with a ball bouncing on the edge of the box we have no one prepared to win the ball at all costs and unbelieveably the shot resulting from this delay sailed over Luke for an early Xmas present .
We did not give up however and a fine strike from Marcus made it 2-2 for a point .
Overall we had at least 30 chances to their 5/ 6 and the score line really should reflect that but that is football .
We really need to do the basics better as regards marking , must put our foot in more often to win the ball at all costs and our finishing must improve with runners off Marcus to create space or to get in a better position than Marcus to score easier chances in the box rather than the edge
If we were not making any chances you would be worried but we quite easily with a little more thought and composure could have scored ten !

In this game we started with Luke S at left back to replace Dan who was delayed in traffic with Joe H moving into central defensive midfield . The latter is really starting to show his worth and has evidenced what a good footballer he is keeping the game neat and tidy whilst accclimatising himself to the faster pace , higher intensity game of top quality U16 football .
Once again thankfully The Reds started the game really well with 3 identical strikes from Marcus which the keeper saved at the near post , Lewis going close and Oisin doing what was asked of central midfield in supporting attack when Marcus moves from the centre . Oisin is a perfect example of a footballer who takes on board what is asked of him for the sake of the team .A real gem and man of the match again with an imperious performance .
After this when really we should have again been at least two up The Reds gave Astley the easiest of chances with them taking advantage of space down the left and the centre forward who is a real handful should have put them in the lead but for a last gasp tackle from Rob .This was also partly caused by our lack of talking and centrally defensively at times playing too deep and not pushing out to leave the centre forward offside .The Reds deservedly took the lead when Marcus headed in a corner from Oisin but as we knew from last week 1-0 is never enough .
The half time team talk was made by Dan who totally agrees with this having seen it first hand himself gaining a greater understanding of what myself and Darren are trying to say .
The second half was a game of two penalties which both sides miss but it has to be said what a great save Marks was low to his left .
We picked up two more yellow cards , one for a last ditch foul off Joel and the second probably for persistent fouls from Rob and these are cards that as a coach you really do not mind apart from the cost .
Great to get our first League win when our football overall has been so much better than score lines suggest to add to or two cup wins to date .
Next week an early KO 10am V Manchester Macaabi when hopefully we can get our shooting boots on again in the Challenge Cup .
